DOS

I love computers and and especially love the Disk Operating System or DOS. Some people have never heard of DOS. DOS was made by a guy who wanted a quick and dirty operating system. He then sold his idea to Microsoft. At the time Microsoft and IBM were working together: Microsoft made the Software and IBM made the PC. So when the IBM PC came out it had DOS on it. DOS has all but vanished from the modern PC. In Windows XP, it is an accessory (To see what DOS looks like in XP, go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt). Before DOS there was the CP/M Operating System which I don't know to much about. The simplicity of DOS is amazing, just type a command and it happens! No pretty Windows here. If you want to learn more about DOS and the DOS Shell (A pretty little program that looks kind of like Windows explorer) read the book DOS for Dummies (www.dummies.com).
